About Duty Free Security Co. Ltd

Duty Free Security Co. Ltd runs the Sealed Bag System in Australia which enables travellers to purchase goods duty free or tax (GST) free up to 60 days before departing Australia. The sealed bag system is available to any retailer in Australia,whether a duty free store, licensed by the Australian Customs (now part of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection) or a general retailer (“tax free retailer”). There are currently in excess of 100 Australian retailers using the sealed bag system.

Duty Free Security Co. Ltd is a non-profit organisation which has been operating since 1978  and works closely with the Australian Taxation Office and Australian Border Force (previously Australian Customs and Border Protection Service).

Fee Structure

There are two ways of participating in the sealed bag docket retrieval service provided by Duty Free Security Co. Limited.

These are as a:

FULL PARTICIPANT      
Docket retrieval fee is $5.36 + GST per docket plus annual fee – details available on application.

AD HOC PARTICIPANT      
Docket retrieval fee is $22 + GST per docket plus a set up fee – details available on application.

Management and Board

Chief Executive Officer – Steven Clarke                  

Steven Clarke has over 25 years business experience encompassing senior management, financial control, relationship
banking, project finance and chartered accounting. In addition to many years experience in the duty free industry in
Australia, Steven has worked for organisations including Westpac, KPMG, ANZ and Citadel Mining Group (acquired by
Equinox).

The board of directors is comprised of industry representatives and currently includes:

Milton Lasnitzki – JR Duty Free        

Milton Lasnitzki is Chief Executive Officer and director of JR Group – a leading Australian and New Zealand duty
free operator which is part of the James Richardson Group. Milton has had over 10 years experience in the duty
free industry in Australia

Michael Bell –  DFS Australia                  

Michael Bell is Operations and Control manager for Oceania division of DFS Australia. DFS is a global duty free business
operating in 11 countries and across three continents.

Mark Levy –  Duty Free Concept – Cairns                    

Mark Levy is director of Duty Free Concept, a leading duty free operator in Cairns. Mark has had over 35 year retail industry experience.

Australian Duty Free Association

Many duty free participants using the sealed bag system are also members of the Australian Duty Free Association.
